House front

This is the front of the house - maybe. The door is going as it's an extra door that was added a few years ago for some strange reason or other. The proper front door is through the gate and around the side. The door you can see here will replaced by a window (as it originally was).
You can't drive a car beyond the house, up the path or street, so it's almost like living on a private road :-)
One day we will paint over the strange mauve paintwork. One day.

Cherries

The tree that was covered in lovely blossom in May is now weighed down with kilos and kilos of rather (but not incredibly) sweet cherries. We picked a bag full but this year the birds can feast on the rest.

BTW if you click on any photo you will get a larger version in a new window.

Appointment at the notary public's office

24th June.
This afternoon, or rather early evening, we went to the notary's office in the old castle in Göppingen where we met the seller and the agent and signed the rest of our lives away. Zoe came along to witness the event (and take a photo)

Kitchen

The kitchen on the first floor needs to be drastically remodelled. And the kitchen in Zoe's flat doesn't yet exist. This is how the first floor kitchen looks at the moment. If possible we will save the units and move them up to Zoe's floor where she will paint and re-vamp them.

not poisonous

In May we asked a specialist to come and measure any poisonous emmissions in the air and to take scrapings of the wood in the attic flat. Important stuff as we don't want Zoe to breathe in poisonous fumes - a real possibility as the house has been renovated more than once during its lifetime (by goodness knows who using goodness knows what).
2 weeks and 1600 euros later we were told (by means of a glossy detailed report) that we can buy the house and not have to worry as it is as poison-free as anywhere else.
